Sigh. Reminds me of getting tear gassed during the Watsonville protests in 85-86.
When I worked security during the Loma Prieta earthquake, we had a presidential visit from Bush Sr. to Santa Cruz. The secret service and local law enforcement had the fence interior, and we (the private company which was patrolling to keep looters under control and stuff) were told to stay outside. One of our instructions were to go and take signs from protestors. Yah, right, like a private security guard can do that legally... I think the SCPD got that fun duty instead.
i love how a country founded on protest violent protest at that can now so doggedly pursue the detraction of free speech i'm not sure what we can do about this but if/when you think of something, let me know and i'll do the same for you if anything pops in my head
People don't seem to grasp just how bad Bush is on nearly every front. We've had conservative presidents before, but Bush is taking it to a whole new level.
He is systematically dismantling the Bill of Rights, the New Deal, and the Great Society. Paul Krugman has been writing a lot about Bush's economic practices. Good stuff if you can stomach the horror.
Yeah, i know, but somehow, letters and petitions just seem like band-aids on a shrapnel wound. But i've started a discusion about this in my online poli sci class, maybe something will come of that. :)

This crap is so much worse than anything I could have imagined before Bush took office.
