[summary] Suki Desu Suzuki-kun!! Chapter 18

As promised, here's chapter 18! It has nothing to do with Chihiro or Shinobu (unfortunately for ShinobuxChihiro fans XD), but this chapter is really adorable, and one of my favourites! So enjoy~

Two days after returning from the school trip, Hoshino has come down with a cold. Even so, her parents will be working late, so she'll be left alone all day. Hoshino's used to it, so she tells her mother that she'll be fine, although she looks sad and lonely when she sees her mother off. Meanwhile, at school, Hachioji-sensei tells Hikaru that Hoshino is sick and that it seems her parents are too busy to watch over her, so he tells Hikaru to go visit her after school. However Hikaru (purposely?) misunderstands and dashes off straight away to look after Hoshino, skipping all his classes. ^^;;

Hoshino goes out to buy herself medicine, but she looks completely destroyed, and barely manages to drag herself back into her house before collapsing in the entryway. Hoshino thinks about how she's weak against colds, because no one is ever home and all she can do is wait it out. When she was younger, poor little Hoshino would have to listen to her parents arguing over who would have to nurse her, each claiming to be too busy to spare any time for her; "I'm sorry, mommy, daddy...Please don't argue over me. I'll be fine on my own, I won't say that I'm lonely..."

When Hikaru arrives at Hoshino's house, he finds the door slightly ajar, and Hoshino passed out in front of the door, with her fever worsening. Slightly delirious, Hoshino notices Hikaru picking her up to carry her to her bed, and thinks that she's dreaming, "If I'm dreaming, then I'm allowed to act spoiled, right?" With that she squeezes him tightly and says, "You came to see me, I'm so happy! I really really love, love, love Suzuki-kun...<3" Flustered, Hikaru wonders why Hoshino has suddenly become so adorable, but then he hears her mumbling about what a nice dream she's having.

As Hikaru is putting her down on the bed, Hoshino kicks up a fuss, "Don't wanna! Hug me more!", then grabs him so that he can't move. Hoshino refuses to let go because she's worried that if she does then Hikaru will disappear and leave her all alone. Hikaru looks around and sees how silent Hoshino's house is, then thinks about his own experiences with colds, with both his parents and Chihiro fussing over him and being too noisy. When Hoshino starts shivering, Hikaru tries to go get extra blankets, but again Hoshino refuses to let him go, so instead he gets on the bed and wraps his body around her to become her blanket . He also reassures her that he's not going anywhere.

Half and hour later, Hikaru is really reaching his limit now, but then Hoshino tells him that this is the first time anyone has ever been there for her at home. She talks about her childhood, how she would always have to watch over the house by herself, but because she was frightened, she would stay in her room the entire time and watch TV. Captivated by the actresses on screen, she began mimicking them, and found that she could forget her loneliness because it was like she was a different person. Hikaru imagines little lonely Hoshino watching TV by herself , waiting for her parents to come home, and feels like this is the first time he's caught a glimpse of the real Hoshino. He grabs her hand and places it against his cheek, "You're allowed to be more spoiled, you know? When you're lonely or in pain, just call for me and I'll definitely come running, be it day or night." With that he gently kisses her through the sheets (because she was worried he'll catch her cold).

Later that night, Hoshino's parents come home to find their daughter sleeping peacefully in the arms of her beloved, to their infinite dismay (^^;;). Hikaru wakes up and greets them, but they sort of ignore him and start blaming each other for not doing a good job as a parent. This pisses HIkaru off, so he kicks them out of Hoshino's room, scolding them for making a racket, and telling them that if they have the time to argue then they should spend that time looking after Hoshino instead. At this moment Hoshino wakes up, and catches Hikaru chastising her parents, telling them everything she never could , "Do you really think that Hoshino is okay just because she doesn't speak up?! Hoshino's an extremely kind and considerate person, so she always holds back and never puts herself before others! Not only today, but since long ago, you've always been too busy for her, but Hoshino has always understood. Even if she was sad or lonely, she would simply endure it without a single complaint. If you leave her alone the entire day, only coming back late, isn't it obvious that she'd be lonely? And isn't it obvious that she'd be sad watching her parents fighting over her? Even the smallest things can make Hoshino happy, so at least take the time to treat her kindly and spoil her when she's sick!" Hikaru then introduces himself and tells them he's dating Hoshino,

but reassures Hoshino's father that he hasn't done anything more than kiss her. He then declares that he'll one day make Hoshino his bride and cheekily tells them that they should treasure what little time they have left living with Hoshino (since he's taking her away x3) because it'll be too late once they come crying to him when they regret it (lol xD)! He then runs off, with Hoshino’s father protesting against his declaration.

As Hikaru is leaving, he thinks to himself that he doesn't care if no one will take him seriously just because he's a kid, because he knows without a shadow of doubt that his feelings are true. Hoshino, who heard every word Hikaru said to her parents, calls out to him from her balcony, "Suzuki-kun!! M-me too...! I want to become Suzuki-kun's bride..." Taken by surprise and deeply embarrassed, Hikaru ends up running into a pole. [ "Early summer of their 14th year, their love still pure and unwavering - I can't see anyone but you now." ]
I love how Hikaru set Hoshino's parents straight! And rightly so~ I also began to love Hoshino after this chapter~ She's really strong and responsible, and turned out to be a kind, caring person despite being neglected as a child. ^^;; Poor girl~

Comments are always loved. <3
