I am so very ready for school to be out. This semester was a bit of a work load, but catching a serious case of apathy sometime after spring break ended made it far worse. Or maybe it's just that.. the classes I have should be really great, and I thought that I was going to get a lot more out of them than I did. This especially true for ( Read more... )

Well at least you only have a couple of weeks left! This summer should be fun, and I hope that you get a lot of good work done. Working on personal projects can be a lot more fulfilling, but it can also be difficult to motivate yourself to actually do them (at least for me).

What kind of projects did you do for your sculpture class, and why aren't you satisfied with them? I'm a big fan of your sculptural work, but I haven't seen anything that you've done this semester I don't think. :)

I like the sound of the altered books project! You know, I kind of like books. It sounds like a relatively simple process to make the pieces but also very effective at getting the message across. You're right though, none of those sound like the kind of work you would normally do. I guess that's kind of what school is for, to make you do things that you normally wouldn't to see if you may enjoy them. I suppose that's how you discovered how much you liked sculpture in the first place, but the process of being forced to do new things just isn't a super success every time.

Man I am so with you on needing this semester to be done and the whole not making anything worthwhile. Being my last semester with 15 hours makes it especially necessary to be over haha. Spring break killed me too. I stated this after it happened with other students too, Thanksgiving break is so much better in that it's nearly at the end. If my brain just shuts off it's not a big deal.

I hope you at least get something out of Life Drawing 2. Will you be able to avoid Lawler? I am so glad I have somehow avoided having a class with that man. Tudor can be difficult to deal with, but he genuinely cares about his students.

It's really a shame with Martin. It's so weird because I feel the same about Advanced Drawing too (although they're better than my painting ones). Like, you'd think we'd be able to get great work done through him, but just nothing came out. I DON'T KNOOOOWWWW....

LET'S MAKE UP FOR IT ALL BY MAKING SOME KICKASS STUFF THIS SUMMER WOOOOO YEEEAAAHHH!!

Yeeeeah, I wish spring break just came a little bit later in the year, I mean, it wouldn't have solved everything, but might have helped a little bit!

Oh goodness, you should be so very grateful you could avoid him..! I feel like I should have improved so much more than I ended up doing. I'm looking forward to Life Drawing II with Tudor, I think it'll go a lot better.

Yeah, it's kinda weird with Martin's class.. I mean, the stuff I did was okay, it just wasn't amazing. I dunno, I feel like it's just a really off semester.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment with some of the classes this semester. It sounds like the workload you had probably didn't help with your apathetic stance either...may have even been the cause of it! If anything though, hopefully this will just inspire you to make your own stuff during the summer. Create things you actually want to create.

I'm really excited for your show next semester! It's so cool that you're able to have one with Jamie and Agnes, and that it's based around one of your pieces!

I've missed reading your updates! I'm always curious about what's going on in Melly Land. ♥

I can't believe it either..! ALMOST THERE!

I wouldn't say that it alone was the cause, I know it certainly made it worse though. I would like to create nice things though and it will happen..! Just.. won't be for a grade.

I've been wanting to have a show for a while now so I am SUPER excited about thing happening! *-* Shoooooooows.

Awww, I'll try to update more often! I always mean to and then end up not doing it because I feel like I don't have much worth talking about or much that anyone cares to hear about.
