Tex's Propina -- The Recurring Dream

Aug 31, 2001 20:50

"I'd love to make MAD, PASSIONATE LOVE to you."

"What?  You're singing a song from Meredith Wilson's The Music Man,

'I smile; I grin
When a girl with an air of sin walks in;
I hope; I pray
For Hester to win just one more A
The sadder, but wiser girl for me...'

"Or did you cast yourself as Weathering Heights's Heathcliff in your head, or something?  You act as if you expect me to model myself on Hester, the heroine in Hawthorn's The Scarlet Letter who is condemned by the very minister she had an affair with!

"If I could see you naked, I'd die happy," Tex murmured, clutching her more tightly to him.

"If I saw you naked, I'd probably die laughing," Despina said through gritted teeth as she restored a gap between their bodies.  "Take a look at me.  Take a REALLY GOOD look!  This is what is called 'Truth in Packaging.'  I don't make love any better than I look, and I have absolutely NO intentions of indulging with you, or any other married man."

Undeterred, Tex persisted, "How do you like your eggs in the morning?"

"Unfertilized!"

"You're stunningly beautiful when you're angry."

"UUUH, you're IMPOSSIBLE!  What part of 'NO WAY' don't you understand?"
