That's odd. Baen's e-book policies are usually pretty relaxed.

Those policies are for consumers -- you and me -- not for retailers like Pandemonium.

I spent the last 30 minutes writing up a whole bunch of fiscal reason why Baen doesn't sell through Amazon, Apple, etc. And I realized at the end that it's all bunk. The real reason is DRM.

Jim Baen hated DRM. He saw it as detrimental to authors, publishers and readers. When he was looking at electronic publishing back in the late 1990s he saw one common thing: the handful of publishers at the time all used DRM and encryption on their products. So he set about creating his own electronic publishing business, one that didn't use DRM and encryption and never would.

Baen Books won't sell ebooks through Amazon's or Apple's or B&N's or Sony's storefronts because all of them push their unwanted DRM on the masses.

Also I suspect that since Baen Books has spent the last 10 years developing a loyal cadre of online customers, they likely don't want to lose those customers to the likes of Amazon (or Pandemonium). I think we will be seeing greater numbers of content providers deciding not to allow online retailers to sell their e-books for them. Time will tell!
