I've had Turkish coffee when I had a 'reading' done - the woman actually read the pattern that the sediment left behind in the cup. Interesting...and I actually enjoyed the coffee. =)

I enjoyed your review as well and now I am curious to try Afghan food. I've tried Turkish food several times and love it and I got the same kind of coffee there with the sediment. It's just reminds me of a really strong espresso.
By the way, I think Pete is coming tomorrow! :)

There's a couple of Afghan places that I can recommend, if Philly's not in your immediate future. Pamir in Morristown is really good. And Khyber Pass on St. Mark's in the city is good too. (Their pumpkin cooked with onions and tomatoes is DELISH.) But seriously, if you find yourself in Philly, try this place!
I think you'd like Afghan food, because I know one of the things you don't like about Indian food is the amount of spices they use in their dishes, and Afghan food is much more simply spiced. It's also not as creamy and rich.
