anarckid and I have been fairly obsessed with spaetzle ever since our trip to Virginia. This was further fueled by an episode of Lidia's Italy we saw on PBS this Sunday; Lidia prepared whole wheat spaetzle, and served it with beer-braised beef and gravy. This prompted me to find myself a recipe.

On the third weekend in October, we drove down to Virginia for our yearly visit. Instead of heading to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, though, we decided to visit the Shenandoah Valley. So anarkid and I have been making the most of this Halloween season. We kicked it off at the beginning of the month with a fun-filled day at the shore: Asbury Park's Zombie Walk; a lantern-lit ghost tour of Keyport; and a trip through Keyport's Macabre Mansion.
