Now that the holidays have been winding down, it seems like the snow has been piling up. Outside, the wind howls bitterly, and though Kevin would usually prefer to be out there than in here, even he has retreated to the warmth of the library hearth

"Hello, Gilbert."

He's sounding more and more like his future self, these days, with a soft, easy confidence.

Kevin opens his mouth to correct him... and doesn't. Maybe, just maybe, it's time to start making that transition. He'll test out this identity for tonight.

The thought makes him hug his knees a little closer to his chest.

"Is it still so cold out?"

He glances up at her. There's no recognition on his face; he hasn't met her before, or any of her family.

"Nothing, ma'am."

[snowwhite_chaos]

He takes her hand, and shakes it gingerly. She's rather old- he feels as though his grip might hurt her.

"Kevin."

She had been walking down the halls, curiosity grabbing her at everything in each room. It was not long until she made her way to the library, where Gilbert had read to her a few days before.

"Xarxs-Nii?"

"What?"

He has no idea how to cope with that.

"...Are you okay?"

She is a bit worried about him now.

"Fine, thank you. Who are you?"

Late tag is late.

Jack recognized the form in front of the fire. He had been on his way to cook dinner for himself and Alice, but she wasn't expecting him for some time. It wouldn't hurt to talk to Kevin and do some catching up.

He walked around him and smiled down at him, "May I join you?"

"Of course."

The bandages have com off. His hair does a little to hide the angry eyesocket, but not quite enough.

"Jack."

Jack notices the missing bandages but he does not flinch. He has seen it before when Kevin had first arrived. That had really been so long ago.

"It looks much better. Have you stopped scratching at it?" Jack felt comfortable around Kevin enough to ask. He sat down next to him, not close, but beside him.

"I have."

A real step in the right direction, obviously.
