I would be happy to loan you the Barefoot Contessa cookbook if you haven't already purchased it. I got it on ebay or amazon and haven't really gotten a lot of use out of it. The dessert section looks great, but the other stuff is readily available on the food network site.
And "Down and Out in London and Paris" is an excellent, excellent book :)
hi! i found you through our common interest in vet medicine. and possibly some other community? i'm not sure. the books on your list look super interesting (esp veterinary medicine, an illustrated history - its super super good).
but i have to put in my two cents about the cesar millan book you have up - eep! he's awful :-S the behaviorist here at UF (Dr. Terry Curtis, a diplomate of the American Veterinary Society for Animal Behavior) uses his DVD's as an illustration of what *NOT* to do when training animals. and to show us what scared dog body language looks like. :-/
Thanks, I'm well aware of the controversy with Cesar Millan. That's precisely why I plan to read his book. There are a LOT of people talking quite a bit about his training techniques without having read ANY of his work... ...and I find that about as distasteful and ignorant as the people who swear by his techniques after watching one of his programs.
i admit i have not read any of his work, but i don't think there is much controversy about the fact that his techniques are outmoded, inhumane and dangerous. at least not in the field of veterinary behaviorists. ive watched quite a few episodes of "dog whisperer" and i'll admit he has charisma, and i'm sure the best of intentions - but what he does to some of those dogs (especially his use of flooding) is *really* scary.
anywhosits, let me know what you think of his book. i am curious to see how he writes about his techniques.

I've read 14 books so far this year. Hi, I'm a jobless loser.
