How do the wards work? Are they tied only to a person's powers? I've...seen things like this before where I come from, but I can't figure out if they are set up relying on one person's powers alone, or are working through magical items...

I'd rather not go into too much detail over the network, but they're kind of magical landmines.

I set up a spell to the point where it just needs one catalyst to be cast, then decide what I want that catalyst to be.
