Amen to all you said. I would like to remind actors that the really nice thing abour Fame is it is soooo fleeting. Soon enough her kids will be able to surf the internet without seeing a word or picture of their mom or dad.
Well, yes. The ONLY reason this is even in discussion right now is because series three just aired, so everyone's talking about the show in general, which leans its way to media reps asking leading questions, which then puts actors on the spot to either defend their words/opinions, or get accused of not caring about anything. It happens ALL THE TIME with pop culture. For fucks sake, Justin Bieber just got arrested for underage drinking and I somehow know about it. I couldn't care LESS about Justin Bieber, but I know about it because it was all over the internet in a matter of seconds.
The current media obsession with Sherlock is entirely due to its success in the ratings. The fanbase is what gives the show ratings, and fandom is a major part of that. Therefore, clearly the way to stir up the fanbase is to start slinging shit about fandom, and what better way to do that than to corner Amanda Abbington (who is already getting shit from people about her character) into making a statement that would piss people off? It's a genius in
