[Spoiler (click to open)]I've read all the the theories and commentary, I've trolled Tumblr and LJ, I've been through discussion boards and interviews, and everyone seems pretty irked about a lot of things. They're all talking about Mary, the baby, Moriarty, the broromance, but nobody seems to be paying attention to a huge

I'm not talking about it cause I'm working thru all the oddities in a fic. Go to jcporter1 at ao3 and read Redbeard. Only 2 chapters posted yet, but enough to see where I'm going. Sherlock was in a Serbian Prison getting beat. Sherlock's brother knew about the snipers at TRF. Obviously Mycroft's levels of manipulation against his brother have not been plumbed yet. What about the fact that Moriarty and John showed up at the same time? If Moriarty were not a villain but an agent what would his use be in involving himself with Sherlock? Could it be that since the trigger happy army doctor showed up his little brother has become impossible to control anymore? This and other mysteries will be explored. As Holmes said, Twist theory to fact. Mary. We know is an agent. Why would she marry John? Mycroft is the key.
Intriguing. I will definitely have to check it out. I tend to shy away from WIPs, which is why I didn't pick it up in the first place, but since it's you (and I know you-- at least in context of internet friends :D ), I'll give it a read.
That's a great point. I think some people would like to gloss over that because, in the context of the show, they feel that his victim had it coming. I wonder if his brother will try to cover it up so that series four can begin as if everything is normal.
See, but that's the thing. He presumably had a trial (or some equivalent, if that scene with Mycroft and Lady Smallwood et al is anything to go off of), so the government is at least in the know. I know that theoretically MI5/MI6 get away with shit like this all the time under the title of "for England's benefit," but I find it hard to believe nobody is going to find out about it. Especially since we know Mary is a liar, and has every reason and significant motivation to get rid of Sherlock (she did kill him, after all) if she has the opportunity.
I just can't see how this show is going to fix all the problems they cooked up in S3. I know that's the point, but after the so-called conclusion to the fall in Reichenbach I'm less inclined to believe they'll actually clean anything up instead of glossing over it and just trusting that the audience will be stupid enough to swallow the bullshit the second time around
