Warnings: Fluff, fluff, fluff. Implied... goings-on. XD; also, omg, characters in an established relationship? in MY fic?

Christmas lends itself wonderfully to fluff. ;;; ONE DAY I'LL WRITE THESE IN WINTER, I SWEAR.

It never got this cold back in Amestris, Ed thought. A little chilly sometimes, the farther North you went, but never enough to really snow, never enough so the ground froze over and just walking was a safety hazard. He'd slipped and nearly ruined his prosthetic arm the first time he'd tried to walk out the door, not knowing how slippery it was outside and - not the best start to the winter holidays, to say the least.

He'd have much preferred to stay inside, where at least there were blankets to curl up under and hot tea only a room or two away, but Alfons had dragged him out from under the pile of at least seven layers of bedding he'd been hiding in, saying that he had to come out eventually and was he really going to spend their entire two and a half weeks off from work in the apartment?

Actually, Ed would have been quite happy to. But Alfons could be... persuasive when he wanted to be, and in a matter of minutes Ed had found himself dressed (although maybe with his shirt buttoned a little bit wrong) and dragged out Christmas shopping.

"What's so special about this month anyway?" Ed scowled, shifting the rather heavy paper bag (presents for their fellow rocket scientists, for Ms. Gracia, and, rather against Ed's will, for the owner of the apartment building, who always "mistook" - yeah right - him for three years younger than he actually was) in his arms. "It's a lot of trouble to go to just for one stupid holiday..."

"It's... sort of a religious thing, if you believe in that."

This only served to make Ed even more annoyed. "What the hell's religious about throwing up a bunch of streamers and putting goddamn bells on everything?"

Alfons shrugged, and Ed decided that maybe pressing the subject wasn't the best idea.

The walk home was longer than Ed thought it would be (with the added time of Alfons dragging him into a bookstore on their way) and it was getting darker, and chillier, by the minute. He began to envy Alfons's scarf after a while - it looked so warm and fluffy and-

"Hey Alfons, share the scarf? I'm freezing to death here."

Alfons looked a bit bemused. "I don't know if that'd-"

"Scarf."

After a bit of fumbling around and Alfons almost falling over, they managed to get to some sort of arrangement, the scarf split about half and half between the two of them.

It didn't work very well, to say the least.

"I give up," Ed said, exasperated, after the eighth time he'd somehow managed to lose his balance and almost sent Alfons crashing to the ground. "Have your bloody scarf back. I'll just freeze." And then, realizing how rude that sounded- "I mean- sorry."

He could see, at the end of the next street down, the lamp-post outside their apartment building, glowing like a pale gold beacon.

Alfons smiled, or at least that's how it looked in the little bit of light they had. "It's okay, Ed."

Ed nodded, trying his best to smile back - the cold was making it damn near impossible to do much with his face at all.

"Besides-" Alfons leaned down to whisper in his ear- "I can think of a few ways to warm up once we get home."

Ed felt a shiver run down his spine. This time, it had nothing at all to do with the weather.
