First of all, dear Will, I think you need some sleep.
I don't really know what you can do, especially if the guy right above him is totally spineless. I guess jump that guy if you have to. In a perfect world he'd be sent back to the US, live in a box under an overpass, and freeze to death by mid-February. However, with current troop levels, the only way he's going to get sent back to the US is in pieces. He needs some punishment, it sounds. Think he'll get any?

No, I know for a fact he won't. It's not like there are officers growing on trees these days, and despite the fact that we'd be better off with NO ONE than him, the Battalion keeps trying to rehabilitate him, like he's going to somehow develop the years of military skills he decided not to learn. Idiot. Oh well...maybe they'll find a way to make him useful, but I doubt it.

The sad part is, if this was WWII, they would have seen that he can't read a map, taken his bar, and said "Go clean the shitter, private." In Vietnam, if he had by some tragedy made it into a line unit, someone probably would have tossed a grenade into his hooch. But here he is, and now all we can do is look for tasks simple enough so that he can't possibly fuck them up. It's not easy.
