Back from Tokyo again. Last time we went, when having dinner with friends (who went to my college as exchange students), they said "you guys should go to a maid cafe while you're here!" ... so I dragged R to @home and he was not happy with me OH WELL ( Read more... )

Sob i swear i will visit a maid cafe when/if i ever visit Tokyo (also a friend told me that there are even voice cafes! How does that work i do not know but as someone with a voice fetish I'D HIT THAT)

Congrats bb you just got mampa'ed. AND I'M USING THE WORD IN THE CORRECT CONTEXT \o/

I don't know much about making shepherd's pie but from what i've seen it looks quite difficult? ;A; The pastry oh god i fear pastries with my life

But Panja is amazing so Panja will make awesome English pie

if all else fails go for steak and mash lol

yes please go to a maidcafe too so we can share shameful stories over a cup of tea some day ;A;)/ wait what the hell is a voice cafe

japan has a lot of mysterious cafes. There are cat cafes (where you play with kitties while you eat instead of playing with maids..) and butler cafes and butler cafes where it's actually girls dressed as men and all sorts of mysterious places I want to see;;

I DONT WANT TO GET MAMPA'D i hope it is an experience that will not happen again ;D; now i am going to be afraid every time I go near that game center...

shepherd's pie has no pastry part, actually.. or at least if it does I am REALLY REALLY SCREWED orz i hope i can make it ughaaa

FfffffffkjahfjkHNGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHUUUUU your icon ;v;

Japan! What a wonderful world.

Ack, shepard's pie is the one with the mashed potato top isn't it. Whoops! In that case, even better! For i believe mashed potato is one of the world's greatest culinary achievements *v*

yeah shepherd's pie sounded easy enough that even I can't fuck it up so I hope it comes out okay *3* I can't cook but I DO think I am capable of smashing the shit out of potatoes and putting beef in a pan, so ...

on second thought I screw up cooking instant frozen foods regularly that just need to be heated up in a microwave so maybe I'm hopeless orz

Maid cafe! It's my secret wish to visit one, even more for butler cafes. You should visit Swallowtail, it's pretty famous as a butler cafe 8D

Also, you should visit one of Toshi Yoroizuka's shops if you like desserts (he's my number 1 favourite pattisier even though I haven't eaten any of his creations *sob*). There's one in Akasaka and one in Shibuya (EBISU, the one in Shibuya is extremely famous btw). Think of me if you eat there! ;A ( ... )

i want to go to butler cafes ;D; but they are too popular! the waiting lists are so long you have to reserve a seat months in advance. This summer swallowtail was having renovations so it was closed so I couldn't even get a lucky leftover seat. I just sat outside the closed building whimpering before limping away to mandarake......

i will try adding milk to the potatoes to make them soft *w* since I dunno where to get milk powder + I'm lazy orz

I also think of thanksgiving food when I think of American food, haha... I wonder how they would react if they came home to find me in their kitchen preparing a huge whole turkey on the table with a beer can stuck between its legs (how I have seen my family flavor their turkey). If I could bake I would love to make apple or pumpkin pie though ;w; (no way I can find canned pumpkin here though, I think?)

Shepherd's Pie is pretty easy (though, yes, it is also very British). The version I've made in the past is the American version called "cottage pie" (made with beef ( ... )

ooh, recipe★ I hope I can pull it off without killing someone. I managed to find a Japanese recipe that I was going to work off of (since it has the directions and cook times for cooking in mysterious Japanese ovens, which are small and sit on the counter like a microwave and puzzle me), which called it a "an American dish", so at least Japanese people have no idea it's British and my secret is safe. \o/

Said Japanese recipe also contains mushrooms, garlic, ketchup, soy sauce, herbs, and cheese. D: I am tempted to try this. If I add enough garlic no one will even notice if my food tastes bad. Instant foodfix.

Thank you for the recipe~ \o/
want anything in particular from Japan? I am terrible at buying souvenirs; I wish I could bring back green tea donuts from mister donut and eat them forever :\

D: What do you do with the ketchup? Is it used when cooking the beef?

Welcome~ ♥
Mmm... I donno. Possibly. /o\ I'm terrible at thinking when I haven't slept in a week.

yup, it goes with the Worcestershire sauce when preparing the beef~

I'm terrible at thinking in general. D: So when I go shopping I tend to ignore awesome/normal stuff in favor of "OH LOOK A STICKER WITH A BUNNY ON IT" or "OH BOY A PLASTIC DONUT OUT OF A 100 YEN MACHINE"

There's also a variation where you can put cheese between the mashed potatoes and everything else. Mmm, melted cheese goodness.

ooh, that sounds nice :O putting cheese between stuff is indeed the American way to do things!
I can't even remember the last time I ate cheese (excluding the McDonald's cheeseburger I ate last week)... I miss it. Cheese just doesn't happen in Japanese food. :\
