operation GET HIRED continues! I finally found a good pot of local companies hiring people at my experience level (read: no experience) by using my brother's login info to peek at his school's career finder page, which is infinitely easier to use than my school's shitty one which has a horrible search system, few job listings, and barely works with ( Read more... )

Good luck on the job front!

And it's probably worth investigating further on the loans, see if you can pay on those higher interest ones first.

I thought I'd call back the loan office the next day at a different time to see if I could get someone more competent on the phone who had a better answer for me, but I got the same reply (from possibly the same lady). I'm just... all kinds of facepalm and don't know what to do. :\ The fact that one end of the transaction sees a completely different bill than the other end is baffling to me.

Is there a way to just pay the bill online without going through the loan office at all? That seems really strange that you're not able to pay each one off individually... D:

I usually make my payments online, but when I do that, the payment is spread evenly across all loans and I can't select which one to pay towards. :\ It's really strange. So I tried calling, but no luck there either. D:

Huh. D: It sounds like they really have consolidated your loans, then, if that's the case, which kind of sucks, but I don't know if there'd be much you can do about it if the loan office was no help... are the private loans, or through CU, or the government?

Yeah, I just... don't know who gave them permission to do that without telling me or updating my online bill x_x I can still view all of the separate loans gathering interest separately....
These are all loans from the government, so I feel extra helpless because I can't talk to anyone who isn't hiding behind a phone and speakingreallyfasttomakeyougoawayassoonaspossible. :\

Good luck on your interview! Studying in the US is so expensive, even for residents themselves, which is why I resorted to staying at my own home country. My law teacher kept telling us how Americans are blood-sucking vampires, but I guess they do hunt their own people too.

God this is horrible, I hope you find your way out of it soon...

Thanks~
The cost of studying in the US is ridiculous and getting worse. A lot of universities are raising tuition even higher within the coming years; I'm glad I got out when I did. My semester in Japan was like a third of the cost of a semester in the US and left me a lot extra for travelling and fun.

There are so many assholes in the US who will do anything for money and it's scary. So many of the jobs I find in job listings are fakes to scam people out of their money. T_T But I guess every country has its own share of assholes. The US just does a bad job of punishing them enough that they'll stop.
