Is this okay for a Caraco?

X posted a bit.
I have 4 3/4 yards of a silk that is 27" wide. The wavy stripes are printed and the flowers are machine embroidered. It was a very good price!
I would like to wear it with a cotton sateen quilted duvet cover that I will turn into a petticoat. I do not think that the pattern of the fabric will work for a short jacket, and the ( Read more... )

I've never seen wavy stripes in the 18th c., but if you're comfortable with that, I'd say go for it!

especially wide wavy stripes!
If I have nothing else in my stash for this not terribly authentic event, I will go with it. Besides I have no other use for it, (other than sell)

I like it. But then, I have been known to blow rasberries at the costume Nazis and laugh in the face of visible machine stitching. It's a fun fabric, it will make a cute ensemble and costuming is supposed to be fun! The test is, will it be something that is worth your time, and that you will enjoy wearing?

I think it "evokes the feel of" the 18th century at least, so if it doesn't have to be authentic, then it is appropriate - it's very pretty and suitably extravagant and decorative :)
