Sorry it took me a few hours to take care of this new spam post.  No, I have not abandoned the community, but I do work full time and take classes part-time, so I'm not always able to immediately take care of problem posts.

I've changed the community settings to require my approval for any new posts and new members.  Given my schedule, this means it

This is such a lovely community and I'd like to help keep it that way so I'd be willing to help moderate so we can filter out the spam.

Thank you for jumping on these posts so quickly when they happen. I know it can be difficult to keep up with the spammers.

It's also possible to tweak LJ settings to use image placeholders for pics of a certain size (or all pics) in one's friends list. I do that just so the page loads quickly. And it's pretty obvious when something is spam--no text. (I was impressed that the spammer in this case had a relevant userpic.)
