t’s all very well to say, ‘Hey, in dire straits? Get a good idea, and start your own business!’ but that’s obviously easier if you’ve begun your life with mummy and daddy helping you out with your trust fund, your university fees, your rent.The fact that by and large conservatives don't seem to understand this always puzzles me, and it's led to me to one of several conclusions ( ... )

Also: I don't know if you've evere encountered this one but there's a distinctly disingenuous fact that conservatives love to use to "prove" that class mobility is possible: that everyone's income at about 22-25 is more or less equal, but a large percentage of people steadily climb in income but others don't. They see this as some sort of evidence that class mobility is happening ( ... )

I agree with just about everything you say (except that you seem to have contradicted yourself about voluntary jobs for no pay versus the same job with pay; unless the police job as a volunteer as opposed to being paid to do it is just your personal feelings rather than what cognative dissonce suggests you should feel ( ... )
