Do the flies not recognize by choice or by blind ignorance? Maybe the flies want that companionship so badly that they are blinding themselves to the true nature of the spider, the illusion only holding more true for the spider because, at heart, he too yearns and pines for their companionship. Yet,ultimately, in the end he cannot deny his very nature. Very interesting and thought provoking read...thanks Doug:)
