I'm currently on a crusade to read common religious texts. I know the basics of religon but I have never completed a holy book (I know, wtf) so that what I'm going to try and accomplish. I also have heard many holy books are basically poetic bullshit, and oh my god I love stuff like that.
Bible (Old Testament)
Bible (New Testament)
Qur'an
Torah Pocket Edition
Vedas
Tripiṭaka
Book of Changes
Kojiki
And an assortment of mostly present tense books.
East of Eden
The Grapes of Wrath
Choke (Palahniuk)
Rant (Palahniuk)
House of Sand and Fog
The Mezzanine
Not a lot- but I'm being honest with myself here. If a book doesn't grip me off the bat I tend to take forever to read it.
