ramblings of a recent 23 year old

a merkimm.

another year come and gone and it amazes me how rapid and unpredictable the movement of change is.  wouldn't it be nice to have a set plan for the rest of your life?  no surprises.  you do your business...bada bing...bada boom...have your thrills and youre out.  but i guess life wouldn't be as precious that way now would it?

if you've got a minute to share with me...

once a pretty smug 31 year old told me that the 20s are the worst years of a person's life (just as i myself was turning the big 2-0 of course). this person told me that you suffer and torment yourself throughout the twenties...figuring who you are and the people who surround you are...you struggle to find what your place is in the world and realize that you have limits and boundaries even though you've been told all your life that you can do anything...! this person told me to dig in and prepare for the ride and take an extra breath of sanity because i'll need it. and so they went on to further explain that the 30s are when you start to break into your own stride, the 40s are when you really start cooking, the 50s are when you can take a step back, relieved to be out of the limelight, 60s and 70s are when you can reap the benefits, and the 80s and above are gravy meaning you can eat whatever you want without gaining a pound. now first i don't appreciate someone telling me i'm in the abysmally lowest low of my life and i have always believed that age is a state of mind (this person being proof themself that 30 somethings act like four year olds). but this has made me think today that the 20s aren't that bad...if you agree i'd like to hear what you have learned in your 20s (so far/the past/or what you hope to learn yet) and what's great about being/or to have been a twenty year old. anecdotes and advice are great too! you can post on the site or email me.

so far i've realized how naive i am about the opposite sex like believing (on the second date) that a guy actually wants to go back to his place to "just pick up his mail!" i learned right quick. yeah buddy martha stewart catalog my tushie.
