Pandora, I wish you had a feature where I could say, "Don't play me any songs by this artist." It's figured out some bands/people I like -- yes, I am a fan of Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, All-American Rejects, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Bowling for Soup, and Pet Shop Boys. However, it has also decided that I must be a huge fan of Ben Folds, Linkin ( Read more... )

Supposedly, if you thumbs down two songs by an artist & don't add the artist to that channel it then excludes the artist from that channel. That's their claim, at least. I don't know if it actually works.

But then will it avoid playing music similar to those artists? I guess my problem is that a lot of the time I do like the musical style of these people, I just can't stand their lyrics, or the singer's voice, or something like that. Like, I love the style of music Ben Folds plays, his lyrics just irritate me so I don't want to hear him.

I dunno, man. Painful as it might be, you could try thumbs upping a bunch of Ben Folds & then thumbs downing two of them. One would hope that all the thumbs up would tell it you like stuff that sounds like Ben Folds, but the thumbs down would exclude that particular artist, though I really have no idea how well it would work. My Pandora listening went down by a few orders of magnitude when work banned headphones.

I became unable to tolerate Pandora after it decided I should want to hear "You Spin Me Right Round" every other song. It's a sadistic application made to torture me!

Yeah, it played that one for me about a million times too. Right now it's stuck on "I Just Died in Your Arms" but before it was "Get Into the Groove" and before that "Enjoy the Silence."

Because 99% of the time the audio quality is poor and my enjoyment of the music is reduced because of the screaming fans.
