Superstar / Taylor Swift
So dim that spotlight, tell me things like
"I can't take my eyes off of you"
I'm no one special, just another wide-eyed girl
Who's desperately in love with you
Give me a photograph to hang on my wall

Hikaru spotted her again the moment he walked onto the platform. She sat the wall of the quiet cafe where he usually played at, watching his performance for the 8th or 9th time this month. She closed her laptop and rested her chin on her hand, a shy smile playing on her lips, as he introduced himself as the resident performer of the cafe.
She didn't stand out, dressed sensibly, and was just another typical college student like him. If not for her regular attendance, Hikaru never would have even remembered her face. He thought she was pretty, yes, but usually that was all that he remembered about girls--the pretty bit, and not their appearances.
She applauded as he finished after an hour, the smile still on her lips as she went back to work.
She looked up at the sound of a quiet cough, and her heart skipped a beat at the sight of his smile.
"Hi."
"H-Hello."
"Thanks for um, coming again. I've seen you around here a lot."
"Oh--right, it's because this place is near my apartment, and it's quieter here--" Her brain stumbled to come up with excuses. "Yeah, that's it."
He chuckled and set a cappucino down on her table.
"Here, my treat. As a thanks for your patronage."
"Thank you!"
"Without sugar."
She raised her eyebrows in suprise.
"You know my coffee order?"
He smiled sheepishly and scratched the back of his head.
"Well, you're not the only person doing intense observations."
She blushed deeply, not knowing how to respond.
"What's your name?" He asked.
Crush / David Archuleta
Has it ever crossed your mind, when we're hanging
Spending time, girl, are we just friends?
Is there more? Is there more?
They sat on the bench and looked out into Tokyo Bay. The weather did the scenery no justice, with the storm clouds rolling in from the distance. She poked her tongue out and touched the tip to her ice cream, making two small dents for eyes and a trench for a mouth. He saw her masterpiece and burst out laughing.
"Well done, Picasso."
"Shut up," she laughed. "It's a weird habit of mine."
"I'm sorry that the weather's so bad today, it ruined the date, didn't it?"
"...This was a date?" She asked quietly, despite knowing the answer. He turned to her with a smile and tucked a loose lock of hair behind her ear. She felt her cheek burn where his rough fingers grazed the skin.
"Only if you want it to be."
He reached for her free hand and slipped his fingers over hers without another word.
Ours / Taylor Swift
So don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stakes are high, the water's rough, but this love is ours
The 4 youngsters sat together at the open cafe, a couple on each side of the table. She watched her best friend giggle at something Takaki had whispered in her ear, and then turn to kiss him, much to the distaste of the other patrons.
"Regretting it yet?" Hikaru prodded her side, and she squirmed away, scoffing at his smirk.
"She's happy, he's happy, we did a good thing."
"Yeah, but now we have to put up with this--" Hikaru gestured to their exaggerated displays of affection. She just shook her head. A few months back she had brought her best friend to one of Hikaru's performances at the cafe, and Shizuna looked right past Hikaru to the backing vocalist, who happened to be Hikaru's good friend. The hook-up was a success, much to her delight and Hikaru's disbelief.
"Honestly, I've never seen him with the same girl for over 2 months."
"Maybe Shi-chan is special," she said and leaned against his shoulder. "Also, I told my mom we're going out. She wants to meet you."
"Oh damn, isn't it a bit early?"
"'s fine, she's a nice lady. Besides it's been over a year! How is that early?"
"What if she doesn't like me?"
"I don't care," she said quickly. "I don't care what she thinks. As long as you're here, everything's fine."
He chuckled and stroked her hair under the gentle autumn sun.
Have You Ever / S Club 7
Tell me
Have you ever loved and lost somebody?
Wished there was a chance to say "I'm sorry"?
Can't you see?
That's the way I feel about you and me, baby
She sat alone in the cafe where they met. The stage was empty even though it was a Friday. He no longer worked here, after seeing her patronizing the cafe on his shifts. She was angry that he was avoiding her, but she knew that she was in no place to be angry at him. For all that was worth remembering, she was the one who broke everything.
With a frustrated groan, she deleted the entire paragraph that she had just written. Nothing she wrote was worth anything nowadays. Everything was sad. Every other character died. Everything was cliched and overused and sappy. Her 5th cup of cappucino arrived, steaming, and she sipped it while uncontrollably sinking into one of her memory relapses.
Yelling. A lot of yelling. Come to think of it she couldn't even remember what they said anymore. Something to do with her mother's disapproval of their relationship. That was probably it. Accusations thrown--hurtful ones--and she probably crossed some kind of line in the end.
She cupped the mug in her hands, warming her hands from the early winter chills. Too much sugar. If he was around he'd tell the barista just exactly how she liked her coffee.
December.
His birthday.
The One That Got Away / Katy Perry
In another life, I would be your girl
We'll keep all our promises, be us against the world
And in another life, I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were the one that got away
The one that got away
It was months later when he finally dared to set foot in the cafe again. Too many memories, he reckoned. Memories that would get him unnecessarily worked up. He sat down at her usual seat--now empty--and almost immediately the barista came over with an ornate box and an envelope.
"What's this?" He asked.
"Well, Takeuchi-san said that a couple of months ago someone left this here for you--" The new barista answered with a shrug. "--said that it was a girl. For your birthday or something."
"...Oh, thanks."
He opened the mahogany box gingerly. The lush velvet interior held a crystal 12 point star that sparkled even under the dim lighting of the cafe. His breath caught in his throat.
Dear Hikaru,
I know you liked that cake I made you last year but... Well, I'm not sure when you'll get my present this year, or if you'll get it at all, so food is out of the question.
Happy Birthday!
There's a ton of things I want to say to you, sorry being the most important of them all, but I don't suppose you'd want to hear them after what happened to us. It's okay. I understand. Still, sorry.
I hope you like the present. It reminded me of you when I saw it in the shop window. All sparkly and everything, caught my attention straight away. Also, it's a wish for your future--for you to become a big star. I know you can.
I'm going overseas to study so I guess...
This is goodbye.
~END~
It took me so long to find a good ending orz I originally wanted them to meet again at Takaki's wedding but I tried out like 5 scenarios but ended up deleting them all ;A; Hope this works.
Also, school is back to haunt me. I'll try to get the requests done ASAP. SORRY ;A;
