She doesn't know how much longer she can take this life. She leaves her apartment before the sun hits her windows and gets back rarely before the clock strikes midnight. She tries to comfort herself with the fact that there is only a week left of this hellish school-part time job schedule, but it honestly does little to help her mood as she enters the usually sparsely occupied train to find all the seats taken. Suppressing curses, she dumps her bulging portfolio on the ground and grabs on to the hand holds as the train pulled out of the station.

The jerk of the train coming to the next stop wakes her and she rubs her eyes. Sleeping while standing. That's something new. She almost laughs but there was barely any energy left in her to even stand up straight. People file out of the carriage and she spots and empty seat. She half kicks her bags towards it and settle down without as much as a look at the neighbouring commuters.

She sighs as her butt hit the seat. The guy on her right almost chuckles and she looks over stealthily. He is leaning back in his seat, brown hair peeking out from beneath his baseball cap and headphones going over that. The brim of his hat is pulled low, such that his face is hidden. She notes his denim jacket though. Expensive. Out of her league.

She leans back against the window, thankful for the seat and shuts her eyes. No sleeping, she tells herself, else you would fall on him. Just a moment of rest would do then. To rid the burning, dry sensation in her eyes.

This time, she wakes to the odd sensation of rough cloth against her cheek, and she sits bolt upright. The guy shifts in his seat and meets her eye.

"Morning," he says with a grin, and her body system is so fatigued it takes a moment for heart to remember to skip a beat at the sight of his smile--boyish, sheepish, with an uneven canine against his lower lip.

"Oh my god I am so sorry--what stop--"

"Only 3 stops have passed since you got on, no worries."

"I am so sorry, this is so embarrassing--"

"It's not a problem, don't worry. You can continue to use my shoulder as a pillow if you want. It's not everyday that I get a pretty girl sleeping on my shoulder."

With that line, she sits upright and neatens her hair. He chuckles.

"You're an art student?" He nods towards her portfolios.

"Fashion designing."

"Cool," he nods. "I do psychology."

She raises an eyebrow.

"Surprised?"

"N-No. Well, yes."

"I get that a lot," he replies with another grin and she has to look away before her cheeks gave her away. The train had emptied out more and there were less than a dozen people in the carriage. She desperately looks for something to say to break the awkward silence.

"S-Sorry if I got any makeup on your jacket, it looks expensive."

"Ed Hardy."

"Oh shit."

He laughs at her panicked expression.

"No worries, it's easy to wash."

"I'm really sorry."

"I don't mind. You seemed tired the moment you got on. Like you'd pass out any moment."

"Well, tuition is due soon so..."

"Ah shit," he grabs his backpack off the ground as the train pulled into the station. "My stop."

"O-Oh, I see. Sorry--I mean, thank you."

He smiles and jogs through the doors just before they slide close. He waves to her as the train speeds off. She wonders if she'll see him again. Sighing, she reaches for her iPod in her bag and finds a note inside with a phone number and name on it.

"Yaotome Hikaru," she mumbles to herself. "Odd name for an odd guy."

His smile crosses her mind again and she gives it a shot anyway.

"Yaotome-san?"

"So formal!" came the text reply. "Not even a kun? So you found the note."

"Yes. Are you home yet?"

"Almost. You?"

"2 more stations."

"That's far. Tell me when you get home so I know you got back safely."

"Hai, hai."

...

...

...

"Wah, finally home."

"good :) sleep soon. Goodnight."

"Thank you for today. It really cheered me up."

"My pleasure. Can we meet again for coffee? When you're less busy and more awake."

"Why would you need coffee if you are awake? But sure. Talk to you in the morning. I'm dead sleepy."

"Not gonna shower?!"

"TOMORROW. Goodnight Hikaru-kun."

"see you in the morning!!"

"Ohayou :) ready for another new day?"
