i'm here to blog about bleach ep 97!
anyway. it starts out with aizen in the opening theme, holding hougyouku. i don't know whether it's the correct spelling, but yeah. by the way, i watched the raw, no subs, so everything was up for my own interpretation.
just a quick summary.
WARNING: i don't know any japanese. or much japanese. this is my own interpretation because i'm watching without subs.
ep starts out with the residents of kusajishi cutting down some huge trees. they're building something(you'll only find out what, later.) so they need big trees, lots of them.
hitsugaya and matsumoto are talking to a shinigami in the office. i presume that the shinigami is reporting the unrest as well as felling of trees in kusajishi. hitsugaya links this with the bount. they decide to take action. matsumoto discuss who they should take with them, i suppose, and hitsugaya decides on renji. apparently hitsugaya thinks there's some link between renji and the bount. or maybe he thinks renji is able to defeat them for some reason.
the last time we saw them, ganju and his merry gang were on boars, and they met ganju's friends somewhere in the forest. anyway, they're now taking a break. a new character(i don't think he has a name; if he does i missed it) comes and talks to ganju about the bount and about the residents of kusajishi. not sure of the exact conversation details. the new guy confirms that kariya is in kusajishi. ganju seems to have a plan. orihime asks ganju something about ichigo, and cloud gets excited. which, of course, pisses ganju off. there's a big sweatdrop moment(i lost the joke because i don't understand japanese).
back in seireitei, shunsui, nanao and ukitake are watching the buildings being rebuilt. works seem to be progressing rather quickly. the three of them share a short conversation before mayuri interrupts. i suppose they're wondering how the bount managed to get into seireitei and destroy their buildings then the guardians of the gate should have kept them out. mayuri launches into some sort of explaination. he then realises something very disturbing and excuses himself from the group.
back at rantao's hideout, we stumble upon a sleeping ichigo. he wakes up(i presume he had some sort of nightmare, seeing how he woke up) to find a simmering hotpot in front of him. ichigo, rantao(who is also awake now) and ishida(who, presumably, never slept) enjoy their meal, then ishida asks why rantao looks so similar to yoshino. apparently, yoshino is a clone of rantao. rantao starts another round of explaination of the bount.
what i got from this is that the bounts are actually a kind of modified soul. that's all i really managed to get. the relationship of a shinigami and his zanpaktoh is the same as the relationship of a bount and his doll. they are inter-dependent. ririn understands something and ichigo sees it too. for some reason, rantao is aiming this explaination towards ishida and not ichigo. rantao asked which bount killed yoshino; ishida responds that it was kariya. moment of silence is broken by ichigo(who can't keep his mouth shut).
back at the 11th division headquarters, kenpachi grows bored. he picks up his zanpaktoh and makes to leave the room. yachiru asks if he is going to look for ichinose. kenpachi responds yes(i think), and mentions something about hitsugaya. this makes yachiru happy, presumably because she hasn't seen ichinose in a long time.
in kusajishi, the residents are building something. kariya looks on with his bount buddies, then makes a rousing speech that grants him a standing ovation. probably something about lifting the oppression by the seireitei. man, those logs are freaking huge. and kariya looks like he's just aged 10 years. he's certainly pleased with himself, at any rate.
in mayuri's lair, mayuri makes a discovery as nemu attentively watches on. he says that seireitei was not destroyed by the bount as they had originally thought, but by one man - ichinose maki. don't ask me how. they start searching for some kind of data in mayuri's over-rated database. mayuri then makes another disturbing discovery, and this time it's really not good. it has something to do with the quincy artefact that mayuri asked nemu to pass to ishida. and apparently, zabimaru has a link in this as well. mayuri gets pretty worked up. i think he discovered that ishida was the one who helped the bount get into soul society? not sure. much nemu-shaking ensues.
hitsugaya, matsumoto and renji are in the forest getting ready to kick rukongai ass. first, though, matsumoto makes her report of the events taking place in kusajishi. hitsugaya and renji seem unfazed. renji tucks in his zanpaktoh, and matsumoto asks something about it. renji responds, hitsugaya makes a comment. and then, they're off.
ichigo and ishida are also preparing to leave rantao's hideout. ishida asks rantao yet another question and rantao says something deeeeeep(okay, i just don't understand). but ishida understands. then it's ichigo's turn to ask a question. my question is, why is ichigo asking rantao a question about ishida? rantao doesn't know either. but she has more to say. ishida has a sweatdrop kind of face. ishida goes, oh whatever, and walks off, with ichigo in his wake. rantao mutters under her breath for them to be careful.
back in kusajishi, the residents are off hauling their new toys. koga has a short chat with kariya when ichinose interrupts. ichinose tells kariya that he has sensed three shinigami nearby, with one of them being a captain. he says that he will take care of it and kariya gives him the green light. i think.
in the forest, matsumoto, renji and hitsugaya take care of a bunch of loser kusajishi sentries. they have a short conversation and are off again. they come to the edge of kusajishi. all the people are gone by now, and they are now faced with but one person - ichinose maki, who has been waiting for them. hitsugaya is the first to arrive and asks who ichinose is. ichinose responds with his name(duh). hitsugaya links him as a bount-friend. ichinose denies being a shinigami and pledges loyality to kariya. hitsugaya demands to know where the bount are, and like a good servant, ichinose won't tell him. he instead chooses to draw his zanpaktoh, and hitsugaya does likewise. they clash a twice, then start talking again. ichinose chooses now to reveal something shocking about kariya(what is it? i dunno). hitsugaya calls him a bastard. ichinose realises that they have company and promptly retreats some distance away. guess who? it's ichigo and ishida!
ichigo addresses hitsugaya by his name and hitsugaya corrects him sharply. for a while they don't notice ichinose's existance. renji and matsumoto appear. then orihime and chad make an entrance on a boar with yellow hair. ichigo is stunned and ishida is sporting yet another huge sweatdrop. ganju and his groupies are cleaning up the last bit of kusajishi scum. ichinose takes this chance to interrupt again(how impolite!) and reveals that kariya and his groupies are at the very gates of seireitei.
indeed, the bount have started a full-scale attack on the guardians of seireitei's gates. before long, the kusajishi new toys are brought into play - they are huge levers which would lift up the gate surrounding seireitei. the guardians of the gates are defeated, and the new toys are in position. kariya is pleased.
