After much deliberation, I have decided that I may just apply to Columbia University through early decision...

You know they accept a whopping 25% of their ED applicants. :) Better than the (what is it, 9%?) tiny amount of regular decision students that apply.

I know! which is precisely why I made my decision...

I was also considering applying early decision to Northwestern or Washington University in St. Louis, but when I realized how many students Columbia chooses through Early Decision, I realized it's really the only way to apply and stand any chance at all.

Good luck with your Northwestern admission! =)

Except Northwestern accepts almost 50% of their ED applicants. :) And thanks.

What attracts you to those schools in particular? I don't see a pattern...Columbia and NU are totally different, for the most part. I see the strong similarities between NU and WashU, though.

I didn't know that...that sure is a high percentage...

Well, ok...I was looking for smaller schools with high academic standards; not liberal arts schools but not huge NYU-esque schools either.

Columbia college is small, which I found extremely attractive...and I feel that were I to not get into Columbia through Early Decision, I'd still have a chance at getting into Wash U or Northwestern through Early Decision, but due to statistics and such, I don't feel I'd be so sure about Columbia.

And location also matters a lot to me. I can't be in a town. I WOULD kill myself. Hence New York, Chicago, and St. Louis.

Ok...do a Psychology degree or something if you're that unsure. I know you want to pursue the whole Medical School thing, so do a Psychology degree starting out in Arts and then transfer so you can graduate with a B.S. and cover the science req.
Oh yeah....and *cough* McGill *cough*
