this is really all i was saying with the above post.

that if the price tags truly reflected the cost, consumers might be drawn to make different choices and buy more local food. which could help significantly cut down on the energy expended in food transport.

But yeah, sure, that's a ways off, and we can continue to make qualms about how this particular local food is not as good as that lamb from New Zealand or whatever, but that's missing the spirit of the argument, that overall, the costs of international food economies are externalized and the shelf price does not comparative true costs of local versus long-distance foods ( ... )
