i can't stand to watch the whole thing, so tell me: did any of them come up with the only comment that could be considered even remotely sensible, if you insist on being a "pro-lifer" - the law would punish the doctor, not the woman.
Not one of them ever mentioned punishing the doctor, and though all of them seemed to agree that abortion was murder, penalties ranged from "counselling", "being prayed for" to being treated with love. (Harsh stuff indeed)
One interviewee did take a stand however, suggesting that yes, women who abort should face imprisonment, the term of which being the "same as anybody would get for killing anybody else" and thinks that life imprisonment "would be a possibility". Crazy, yes; but she was the least hypocritical of the lot.
i DO understand what they are trying to get at, b/c where they are coming from is a moral standpoint [albeit not mine] rather than a legal one; they want the women to think "correctly" [their way, of course] and think that if it's made illegal no one will do it b/c theyd have to "think about it" and have a hard time seeking it out. the flaw is, and always has been with anti-choice groups, is that they think a woman who is getting an abortion hasnt thought about what shes doing, doesnt hurt or feel about it, and doesnt carry it with her for the rest of her life in some way or another.
If they want abortion to be made illegal they can't waive the punishment associated with the "crime". No punishment means no crime. No crime means that they don't have grounds upon which to stand their position.
