She sat silently on her bed, fingers tracing the letters on the page. Her homework lay discarded on her desk, a bottle of water sitting next to her. Nothing in the room moved except her, the occasional sipping of water or tracing of the letters on the page. F-A-T. Three little letters that caused so much pain. Her stomach gave a slight growl and she stared downwards, hating her weakness.
“Sweetheart it’s lunch time. Come down.”
She winced, she didn’t want this. She had to go eat; she’d pulled the sickness card yesterday. Her stomach growled hopefully and she swore under her breath.
“Coming mum.”
She stood, baggy top smothering her bony frame. A shiver ran through her body and she pulled her hoodie tighter, zipping it up. Slowly she made her way downstairs, taking her usual seat at the table, large glass of water sat in front of her. She barely ate, pushing the food around the plate. After only a few mouthfuls; two potatoes and a quarter of her steak, she excused herself. The family watched in silence as she rushed up the stairs.

Upstairs she crashed to the bathroom floor, staring at the toilet bowl. She barely hesitated, bending her head down and pushing her fingers to the back of her throat. Her abdomen spasmed and she wretched. The first few times it was dry, then the food started coming up. She wretched until there was nothing but acid. Standing she moved to the sink, washing her hands, brushing chunks of vomit from her hair. Once her hands were clean she grabbed a few sheets of toilet paper, moving slowly, languidly, towards the mirror. She blotted the tears from her eyelashes and wiped the snot and vomit from around her nose and mouth. Once the ritual was over she studied her reflection in the mirror, the pale skin and bloodshot, puffy eyes. Those same eyes ran over the redness around her mouth, the red specks that were broken blood vessels all around her eyes, on her forehead and cheeks. Her hand ran down her body, fingers playing along her ribs. The reflection in the mirror smiled back at her.
“Soon…” She whispered. “Soon I’ll be thin. Soon I’ll be perfect.”
She turned, smile still drawing her lips tight, and rinsed her mouth out with mouthwash. Gently pressing down on the toilet flush she exited the bathroom, returning to her solitude.

Disclaimer: I don’t make any money off this writing and the characters all belong to me. It’s fiction and in no way am I saying that anything I write about has or will actually happen (with the exception of reference to true historical events of course).
Bascically I don’t own, I don’t make money, don’t sue.

Author’s Notes: Bleh. Eating disorders are not fun or glamourous. I hoped to show that.
