The Medical History of Burton Guster
1. In fifth grade, when he and Shawn were 11, Gus broke his arm falling off the roof of the Spencer's house (Shawn's fault).
Shawn held his good hand all the way to the emergency room in the back of Shawn's dad's police cruiser and even convinced Mr. Spencer to turn the siren on to cheer Gus up.
2. In seventh grade, when he and Shawn were 13 years old, Gus came down with a horrendous case of chickenpox which kept him out of school for two weeks.
Shawn played hooky to bring Gus junk food and comic books and came down with it himself three days later.
3. In ninth grade, when he and Shawn were 15, Marisa Polanski threw Gus over for Terrence Brickhouse because he had facial hair.
Shawn took him to see Speed nine times so they could watch Sandra Bullock jiggle.
4. In eleventh, when he and Shawn were 16, Gus missed seeing The Fugees because he had strep throat from waiting in line all night in the rain for tickets to see The Fugees with Shawn.
Shawn gave their tickets to the Kopeki Twins in exchange for them agreeing to go to the junior prom with them, and then Shawn stayed home with Gus watching Freddie Kruger movies all night instead (in retrospect, that probably didn't help Gus recover from his sore throat very much).
5. In twelfth, when they were 18, Rena Jessup, the first girl Gus had ever loved, decided to go to NYU instead of staying in California.
Shawn dragged Gus down to Mexico for the first time, got him drunk for the first time and got down on his knees and sucked Gus off for the first time.
Ever since then, Gus has been a bit of a hypochondriac.
