1. Your sweetness is delicious without being cloying.
2. The Soviets are absurdly, absurdly fascinating. If you feel like being depressed, get Koba the Dread by Martin Amis. I'd lend it to you, but Jesse Kass borrowed it from me and never gave it back.
3. You're a sophomore, right? So wherever you are going to be during the summer, talk to Lynne DeBenedette in Slavic beforehand about taking some Russian at the nearest institution of higher education, take it wherever you are, then continue back at Brown. Or find the nearest Vulcan and have them mind-meld you with Malka.
1) Thank you! I like to think that I'm not saccharine! 2) I'll have to check out that book! I think I'm writing a research paper on Nikolai Bukharin, who is like my new favorite historical figure. His last letter to Stalin is the only historical document that has ever made me cry (this includes all of the readings for my Holocaust class. I'm actually a lot tougher when it comes to history) 3) I think the problem is that while I would really like to KNOW Russian, I don't think I would like to LEARN it. Considering my last experience with a non-romanized language, I'm very worried about the time and effort I'd have to put into it. I really want to continue with Spanish, too. Of course, if no internships come through, I might just end up in intensive language boot camp... 4)I LOVE THAT BLOG. It is so eerily accurate.
