I don't get the Methuselah-Terran thing within the Empire. The way I see it, the Terran have their own section of the city, but do a lot of their businesses with the Methuselah. There are also Terran that serve the Methuselah? Which might be what that old man that serves Asta is. And like, that man that the autojaeger kill that Ion goes to find in the Terran section is, clearly, Terran. So the city's coexistance exists in that the Terran and Methuselah do business with each other and there's a peace in that, probably. There are probably Terran families that have served a Methuselah noble for geeeenerations.
--re: lifespans. What does a Methuselah who's about to die of old age look like. I have never seen an old-looking Methuselah. Is our lifespan 300 cause we all get killed around 300?
I'm still wondering about the question of age, too. Because you have Radu and Ion's birthdates, and that has them at 18. But Asta refers to herself as one of "the young nobles," ostensibly putting herself in the same category as Radu and Ion. The novel says she looks like a girl just out of her teens, but gives no hint to her real age. (And the age of 50 that I have on my stats and permissions meme is the result of me misreading something. GG me.)

The points you raise about Asta's unflinching loyalty are things I've thought about myself, particularly after this ch 32. It's so... complete that I have to wonder about her level of naievete, because she's just... so LOYAL. And, you're right, she's loyal to an Empress who behaves rather untrustworthily. But Asta's not stupid, and I don't think she gives her loyalty freely and blindly.
That said, she's got a pretty lousy track record when it comes to the people she trusts. Suleyman? BETRAYED. Empress? LYING LIARFACE. Abel? ALSO A LYING LIARFACE. O asta.
