I feel like there is so much emphasis these days on "protecting the children" to the point where it's a little extreme. Back in the day children were way more expected to handle their own in life. I wholeheartedly agree! My nephew Thomas was struggling in kindergarten last year so they tried to diagnose him with ADD and it's so incredibly absurd. In kindergarten! He's just an energetic little boy who would rather run around and play than sit at his desk. Isn't that what little boys have been doing since, oh, the dawn of time?! His mom just talked to him about behaving better in school and tutored him a little more at home, and by the end of the year, he was doing perfect fine. With no medication, thank you very much.

I really have to say, you have a point here. Several, in fact. And I think I agree with you. Especially with the whole learning-disability-pump-you-full-of-chemicals deal and the instant gratification our society makes so possible that instead of a privilege, it becomes a right and then when one can't get something right away, the whole fucking world falls down. And yeah, the tv thing too. I guess it makes me glad to have grown up where there were still some integrity and "traditional" values left in society, and it makes me scared for kids growing up in the future.

I find too many decisions are made based on knee-jerk opinions that are generally based on hearsay which is generally based on one or two peoples' experience of the world. we're all guilty of it. using only our minds, or only our hearts, when really we possess these things that they may be used in concert.

the first half of seeing is knowing we've only two eyes.

or something.
