Anyone out there in Live Journal Land use Linix/ Ubuntu? I've always wanted to try it out but I'm scared I'm not gonna be able to use it since I don't have a doctorate in computer science.

Specifically, am I gonna be able to run all my apps?

My little brother used it for a little while during a period where his computer was having problems with Windows XP, he didn't have the CD Key to reinstall it, and he couldn't afford a new copy of it.

You can get freeware programs to replace most microsoft office stuff, and they have GIMP, which is a toned down Photoshop, but using programs like Real Photoshop, or 99% of games is a bit trickier. I'd probably Google for tutorials on how to run certain games or whatever version of photoshop you use to see the process involved in using them on Linux to see if you feel comfortable with it.

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. I run Vista myself, and I think i'm one of the few who like it better than Windows XP. I have few, if any, crashes, zero compatibility issues, and every game i've tried running runs just as well as in XP. Then again, I do have a moderately good processor and a top-notch video card.
