Hmm. Any particular reason you have American Gods, Good Omens, and Ender's Game crossed out? Also curious about why the Harry Potter are crossed out.. though you may have written about that at some prior point, and I just missed it/don't remember.

As to the first three titles, I'm just not familiar with either them or their authors. Will I be missing out if I don't read them? Elucidate me. As for the Harry Potter books, I'm concerned about the spiritual realm that these books open up, especially for children. I may yet read them someday; but for now, I'm afraid I'm not very supportive of their hype.

As Joz pointed out, Neil Gaiman is a wonderful author, as is Terry Pratchett. Although, there might be other books by him that you might enjoy more than American Gods. While Good Omens is good fun dealing with parodying the end of the world, complete with the four motorcyclists of the apocalypse, and rains of fish ( ... )

Thanks for the feedback. I will most certainly make Ender's Game the book of choice if and when I get to sample Mr. O. S. Card's work. As for the Potter broohaha, I agree with you about those who criticize without reading; but please note that I'm not on a campaign against the books, and I may one day yet read one or all of them. I only have so much time (so many books, so little time); and in this particular case, I have allowed my decision as to how I use that time to be influenced by others whose opinions I deeply trust in these matters. So... I salute you with my sword, and I drop my defenses. Skewer me if you must; but I, too, must leave it at that.

I loved Good Omens, it was a hoot!! Although, I'm biased as I'm a Neil Gaimen fan. Though, I don't know...American Gods is my least favorite of his works. I still favor his Sandman series, but those are comic books, so those wouldn't make the list.

I thought Angels and Demons to be a superior book to DaVinci Code. I thought the characters more interesting and the story more solid, so I'd highly recommend it.

Animal Farm, Memoirs of a Geisha, and Brave New World are fabulous books. Although, Geisha is pretty different from the movie, if you've seen it.

A Clockwork Orange and The Lovely Bones mess with your head. I was so out of it when I finished those.
Good list, though!

Re: ACO and TLB -- there's a reason I've not read them already... gotta be in the "right place" to tolerate that sort of thing...

As you can see, I've put Good Omens back on the "to read" list. I appreciate your comments: they will help me know what sort of mood I'll have to be in to read it. Thanks! :^)
