All right, people. Today I ran into another vampire. I know there are plenty of us around here, but this was the swirly cloaky ooh-look-at-me-being-dark-and-mysterious type, and if I know anything about that type, it's that they do their best to get all the other vampires in the area under control as their personal army. Then they go around turning all the mortals in the area into vampires too to try to make that army even bigger.
We have to stop this before it even starts. For mortals here, the trouble's plain, but it's not safe for other vampires either. The castle gives us a measure of sanity. We don't have to hunt here. The castle gives us the blood we need. Back home, things are different and it's kill or be killed, but here, we don't have to be monsters to survive. If we allow ourselves to be assimilated, all that's going to come to an end. We don't need that any more than the mortals around here do.
As for the mortals reading this, I think there are plenty of us vampires here who want to keep Paradisa livable for you as well, and if the worst comes to pass we'll be able to figure out how to protect you.
Sometimes I love being what I am. Other times all I can think of is how I didn't choose it. I don't want anyone else having that choice stolen.
