[For a long time, after she wakes up from a
nightmare she hasn't had in a while - at least not so badly - Rin just breathes. She's sweating, her light sleeping robe sticking to her skin, and her room is uncomfortably warm. Her heart is beating so hard... it's nearly hard to breathe.
Tad whines, when she gets up. Opening the window doesn't help, but it feels good to look out at the grounds and remember where she is. Most of the castle is sleeping. It's still dark, still night out.
She feels sick. Her throat hurts. There's no desire to go back to sleep, after that.
Eventually she changes her robe for another and comes back to lie down on top of the comforter, calling Tad over so she can curl up against his back, and just pages through her journal for a while, listening to the other people who are awake and speaking, even at this hour.
That's right, it's Paradisa, isn't it? There's always somebody out there. Not always someone you want... but always somebody.
Eventually, she does dictate, in a quiet, rather tired voice, because right now she wants somebody and is not feeling too selective.]
...You know. This nightmare thing? This nightmaredemic? It could be worse. I wonder how many of us dreaming now remember it... but the castle did this thing where dreams were physical for a while. For a week, or so, I think. Typical castle change. Now imagine what that could be like.
It really could be worse.
