Tenth Sip

[Maladict is chilling in the library, her journal open in front of her as she dictates. She's surrounded by books about Christmas, and has come to the conclusion that it really is a silly little holiday]

So, I've been hearing a lot about...Christmas, which seems to be quite a big celebration for most of you. And though I might be the only person from my world here, I thought I'd share my world's winter celebration with you. Let you see what you're missing out on.

On the 32nd of December, we celebrate Hogswatchnight, when the Hogfather [and here, she'll paste a sketch she did earlier onto the page] flies around the Disc on his sled drawn by four wild boar delivering gifts to the residents of the world.

Of course, he's actually a God. Something to do with ancient rituals of pig slaughter and the rising of the sun for the next day, the 1st of Ick, Hosgwatchday: our New Year. But we have a lot of Gods running around, so that's nothing special.

It's a time of togetherness and getting drunk and singing stupid songs about hedgehogs. There's a story which says the whole gift-giving thing started when a king took pity on three weeping sisters who had nothing to eat, so he threw a bag of sausages at them.

There, now you've all been enlightened. Lucky you.
