[ after spending some time in her room with her journal, letting out some things that were brewing beneath the surface in an entry that seemed too emo and teal deer for a header to an open and distinctly more cheerful post, kara's feeling the need for a change of scenery.

so, grabbing the bag with her knitting stuff in it, she heads on over to the dining room that's usually pretty empty and sets up shop on a far end of the table, knitting and flipping through her journal at the same time. you know. for conveniences sake in case there's any last minute smooches. she's got a few thoughts and questions about this whole ball thing, but there's a few filters she needs to take care of first. ]

Random question. Do we know who's furthest along in the timeline out of all of us?

You planning on going to the Ball? [ because she totally wants to do the girly get ready together thing if either of them end up going. ]

( dick, kal )

I kind of want--

I don't know if I--

Never mind. It can wait until the new year.

Christmas Ball, huh? I'm guessing that by 'formal wear' they're meaning corsets for us of the female persuasion. Unless the castle is okay with the majority of people wearing suits, despite the time period's gender appropriateness. And odds are any dancing that's done is the kind of dancing I can't do. Man, that sucks.

[ a pause. and then: ] So what are the odds of there being something malevolent planned for Christmas? I've heard about the thing that happened around New Years last year, so it's not exactly the same time of year, but. It seems a little weird to have gotten this the day before it's happening. Or I could be over thinking things, I don't know.

And, you know, I may not like the idea of hoop skirts and all that, but if there's a chance something may go down, I'll probably end up going to this thing.

Though how the castle expects us to pick out formal wear and what we're doing for something fancy with a day's notice is beyond me. I mean, there's a reason people plan for these things in advance.
