[Mat's overtures towards girls in the castle have been complete and utter failures. Frustrated (in more ways than one), he's taken refuge in town for the week, carousing there without too much more injury than an occasional -and usually well deserved- slap.
But as the end of the week rolls around...it's not enough. He can't accept that he has to give up...and he's got a plan to at least see what he wants to see...even if he won't make it much further.
So, hunting down his journal for the first time in days, he'll be writing a filter into the journals. No spoken words. He doesn't want to give himself away]
