discovering the tree
[A tree has appeared on the grounds, to the south of the castle.
While trees are nothing new to Cair Paradisa, a castle ringed by thick forests, this one is a little different. Most noticeably, it stands apart from the tree-line, perhaps by fifty yards or so. This lonely place on the grounds is complimented by the tree's ash-grey branches, barren and twisting, reaching to the sky in gnarls. It has no leaves, no sign of life.
Curiously, though, it is very sturdy -- so sturdy, in fact, that nothing will phase it. Strength nor fire nor magic seems to even sway its branches.
And, noticeable to the most observant, there are the roots. Where the dirt and matted, winter-worn grass meets the base of the trunk and the odd roots that jut up before diving down, one may notice the wood is soaked wet by some red liquid.
They call it a blood tree for a reason.]
