(backdated to early evening, game time)
(dictated over the journals, but also if you happen to be in the library and see them)

[Rory and Amy are currently in the library, having a look through the section dealing with the paranormal and similar subjects. It's something of a compromise: Amy gets to go to the library and do her research, and then they both go to the TARDIS to bunker down for the duration. Rory's been in something of a bad mood ever since yesterday when they went out to the tree; he's not being overtly nasty or snappish, but he hasn't spoken much and his face seems stuck in a vague frown. Currently, he's stood in front a tall bookshelf, running his fingers along the spines as he reads the titles]

... Hey, here's one. Might have something ... 'Beings From the Beyond'.

[Amy's sat at a table behind Rory, her head stuck in a box she pulled out of the archives section. She's already combed through the library's collection of books on Scottish folklore--just to make sure there weren't any stories she wasn't familiar with that might have relevance--and has now moved on to the castle equivalent of loose periodicals. She doesn't stop skimming over documents as she answers]

Sort of vague, isn't it?

[slightly defensive] Look, it's the most promising thing I've seen so far. [he falls quiet again as he plucks the book from the shelf and opens to the table of contents After a moment he flips quickly to the middle of the book and adds:] Psychics can see things other people can't, right?

[still skimming, paper after paper, looking for anything suspicious--there is a LOT of stuff in these damn boxes] Yeah...

No one's been able to see this thing. Except the kids. And this book says the author's a psychic ... maybe this'll really have something.

[Amy makes a noncommittal noise, most of her attention devoted to her own seach. One... two... three... four more pages. If she were the research type, this might actually be hog heaven for her. As it is...

Another page skimmed. The next one wouldn't stand out from all the others, except--it's got a red sticker on the top left corner. She frowns, reading.

*0016

Deema's gone.

I stepped out of our room for five seconds to talk to Mr. Harper and I heard her scream. When we ran to her, she was gone without a trace.

I don't know what to do.*

If that doesn't describe exactly what's been going on, she'll eat her leather boots]

Hey... Rory.

[as it is, Rory's attention is similarly focused, but he suddenly frowns and peers closer at a page in the book, holding up one finger]

Hang on a tick. Reading ...

[Amy makes a slight pouty face, but waits. After a second Rory stands up straighter and turns around to face her, finger still raised]

Hey, listen to this. There's actually a chapter called 'On Sylphs and Child-Snatching Beings' and--and it's got this: "You pass by his kind every day, they’re right there under your nose, but you will never remember them. You’d never be able to pick them out of a crowd, or recall them as a background shape in a memory. In your busy, short lives you have more important things to worry about than remembering them. But I wish for once someone would open their eyes and look."

[he looks up from the book to Amy then, and his eyebrows are raised as if to say, bingo? Amy looks... partially thoughtful, partially intrigued, partially closed-off. It sort of reminds her of the Doctor, in a way]

You mean... the kidnapper could be here in the castle with us?

If I'm right and this is actually related ... then yeah. Probably. Maybe. Wasn't one of the kids taken from here while someone was looking right at them?

I... think?

[she pulls the paper with the red sticker out of the box--who cares about marking places to put it back in its correct place? Not Amy--and hands it to Rory. He takes it from her and reads it, and then his eyebrows arch even higher. With a sigh he shuts his book on it--her sheet is now marking HIS place--and gives her a tight smile]

Time to go report in, you think?

[Amy gives him a less-than-confident smile back and, picking up the lid, sets it firmly on top of the box then stands up, dusting her hands off on her thighs]

Yeah.

[he waits until she draws even with him before putting a hand on her shoulder, and together they leave the library to head for the TARDIS, and add this new info to the rapidly-expanding lexicon of research the castle residents have been compiling]

(Blue = Rory and Red = Amy. Open like an open thing, I suppose! Sorry for the godawful length D:)
