So... does this actually work? Haha, this feels pretty silly... but I heard voices from it earlier, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Sooo either I'm making myself look like a total idiot or [pause] ...or this book is pretty awesome.
[for a few seconds though there's an uncomfortable silence (well uncomfortable for the speaker anyway) as Adachi tries to figure out exactly what to say. But speaking to a journal still feels pretty weird to him, so the next thing heard is him mumbling "pen, pen..." while searching his clothes and surroundings... but he can't seem to find one, evident by the next thing he mutters: "Crap." He clears his throat, turning back to the book]
Oh uh... My name's Adachi. De- ["-tective Adachi at your service!" is what he would say but then he remembers that he hasn't been a detective in 3 months. Whoops, old habits die hard] Er, what I mean is... I'm new here... where ever here is... I guess? Can anyone tell me where I am? Pretty sure it's not where I'm supposed to be, you know...?
