[But before they start. He whips a pen out of his pocket (which seems to just be a slit in his skin that shows up when he takes the pen out and disappears immediately after) and flips to an empty page on the journal where he draws a cartoonish version of himself with the word "Courage" pointing to it. He jabbers excitedly while holding it up for her to see.]

You have a journal? Then... you're a resident.

[He flips through it curiously. On one page, he stumbles across something crude another resident said. He shuts the journal...then peeks at that page again.]

The journal's also magical. It works as a radio; so you can hear people through it but it still has the writing function. Whatever you put in here, people can see it unless it's specifically filtered to someone.
