[One Pokemon trainer's taking a walk outside, near the duck pond. From the corner of his eye, Gold saw a flash of yellow and a Pikachu tail sticking out of a bush]

Hey, come here little fellow.

[slowly, one plump Pikachu emerges from the bush, sadfacing. Gold whips out his Pokedex]

Says your name is Roß. Your trainer is--oh.

[pokémon rivals have this uncanny ability to appear at random and inopportune moments and N is no exception to this. why would he offer to help gold out when he can run into him and chuckle at how cute fattychu is?]

A Pikachu? And a healthy-looking one at that. Where did he come from?

[If he weren't a game protagonist, he would have been mildly surprised by rivals coming out from the other side of the screen unannounced

Oh wait.]

His trainer left some time ago, so the poor guy must have wandered off to look for her.

[oh god oh god that crushes his delicate little heart just hearing and he stares at the poor poor little (hah) pikachu with this pitying expression.]

Oh no... This poor Pikachu... That is such unfortunate news. What will become of it now?

I'm taking the little fellow to the animal shelter, where other orphaned Pokemon are for the moment. He'll get some regular meals, playtime with others, and hopefully some exercise.

[oh phew, thank arceus.]

That's a relief. It pleases me to know such a place exists. I don't think I've ever been to the shelter. May I accompany you, Gold?

[it's a good thing he hasn't caught on entirely to N's ideals and behavior]

Only if you promise you'll play with them for a bit.

[a good thing indeed. N's trying to be more open minded but nothing sets him off like a homeless pokémon making cute faces.]

That's certainly a promise I would be more than happy to keep.

I can't help but feel the same way at times. One grows used to it after awhile. I can't help but miss being surrounded by Pokémon regularly, however.

Heh, I hear you. I miss the guys back home a lot. I hope they're taking care of each other.

I also hope my friends are doing well. Some of them have apprehensions towards humans for good reason, so I hope they are being treated well now.

[it's been a long time coming but he can finally say with certainty that he agrees. he gives a small smile and a nod.]

Yes. Yes they do. There are many good people who are kind to Pokemon in our world so it should not be a problem for them.

I was kinda surprised by how many good people were in one two regions alone. With Team Rocket having been in operation for a long time and all.

A group of terrorists who use Pokemon as tools to take over the world.
