[Larry has been either at work at Caritas, being only as social as need be, or cooped up in his room for the past couple of weeks. The whole baby thing really bugged him and he dealt with it the only way he knows how. Badly ( Read more... )

[ Piper's still ignoring the whole baby fiasco. Ignoring it and not dealing with it and using up her energy with something else seems to be the way to go in this craphole. And possibly learning the piano after dropping it so many years ago thanks to the Water Demon? Might do the trick. ]

Are you looking for people to teach from scratch?

If that's what they need, yes.

How do you feel about teaching someone who once learned the piano, but has forgotten all the key points? [ Because Piper would be guilty of that. So very guilty. :| ]

I would be for it.

[ She may be grinning like an idiot ] I don't have any money on me, but I can cook up a mean meal in exchange for lessons.

I think that sounds like a fantastic exchange.

Well, I'm Piper. And I have to warn you, I may be incredibly horrible. The only thing I can recall from my learning days is Grams frowning everytime I sat on the stool. [ She grins, though. Piper has piano talent - she just dumbs it down to the point where she may appear scary. ]

[he's chuckling now] She sounds like a tough lady.

[ She laughs ] She was. [ Oh man, she was. And still is. But going into those details would prove to be too tricky. Piper hardly understands it herself. ]

I'm free for whenever you want to do this. And is there anything in particular you favour in the bakery department? Choc chip cookies, muffins, gingerbread men or something? Anything I should stay far away from?

You tell me, you're the student.

And...I will take it all. Health be damned.

How does some time next week sound? [ lol, coming from the future, that's the pirate week. Good timing, Piper. You sure know how to pick them! ]

[ She grins ] It's nice to have someone who appreciates the extra treats around again.

Next week sounds great. Why don't you get a hold of me in...a day's notice?

Oh I always do.

Sounds perfect.

If only I could take you home to teach my family a lesson in appreciation, I would.

They don't appreciate your cooking?

I'm sure they do ... on some level. But it's kind of like breathing air; we just expect it to be there. And I have very little time to pursue it these days and whenever I do have the opportunity, it feels a little anti-climatic. Maybe my enjoyment is turning into a burden. [ She gives a short laugh ] I guess a thank you can go a long way, huh?

That makes sense. It's harder to appreciate what we have while we have it. Isn't that why they say absence makes the heart grow fonder?
