[This is printed in a blocky, heavy hand, with space left beneath it:]

VEVIB NLNVMG LU ORTSG ZMW WZIP RH Z NRIZXOV.

[The following, however, is written in slanted, pretty script:]

That's one of my favorites. Does anyone ever play games over these journals?

[because lord knows he needs something to ease his mind right now after the events of the last 24 or so hours.

She can't see it, but on a ripped out piece of paper he tried to figure the cipher out. Eventually he finally gets it, and writes the following back:]

GSZG RH KIVGGB XLIMB

R VMQLB TZNVH ORPV GSRH GSLFTS

[riddles might not be his forte but a code? That's something a lot easier for him to work out]

[She laughs out loud, stifling it before the journal catches too much of the sound. After a moment's thought, she writes back:]

Just because it's corny doesn't mean that it's not nice, hm?

[The sound of her laugh drifts through the journal, but she continues in writing.]

Very clever.

I've been trying to think up some word games. I used to be a lot better at it than this.

[hearing her laugh makes him smile on his end]

well if you come up with any im sure ill enjoy solving them
i like this sort of stuff things with codes are easier than say riddles
i guess its because i was a detective back home so having a skill like this was really useful

A detective? What sort of cases did you take?

And it's Adachi, right? If I got that last one correct.

and oh well a bunch of cases
i should specify though that i was a police detective
and also still kind of a rookie haha

You know, that sounds pretty familiar. :)
I worked on a lot of homicide cases back at home, too.
And this isn't really a secret anymore, since I've told the journals, but I was actually very personally involved in a homicide case!

[Whoops! She didn't mean to startle him like that.]

Well - I was dead, once. For a few days. It really wasn't that bad.
