It would seem that the residents were quite busy as of late... I must admit that I heard some of what occurred, but I do not know very much at all. [...a giggle. His tone almost implies that he knew entirely what was going on.]

I do hope that no one was gravely injured this time, however. It seems quite the uproar was caused.

[There's someone else in the small grove. He wasn't there before, but he is now. He feels like Alexstrasza, though his presence is much more muted, either by choice or by weariness. He's still very old-- and a part of Alexstrasza's gift of life resides within him as well, being of the red flight. Cloaked as he is, he still eyes Pharos with some curiosity... and some trepidation.

That is not a child.]

[It's quite the rare thing, when Pharos isn't the one appearing out of nowhere. But the presence that appears in the grove is familiar, even if he doesn't know it, and Pharos looks up after turning another page, regarding the new arrival with some degree of curiosity. But when he smiles the expression is knowing, and he moves to shut his journal.]

You resemble Alexstrasza. Are you a friend of hers, perhaps?

[Oh, that's creepy. So this is someone who can see his true form? Must investigate further. And dodge the question.]

How do I resemble her?

[... Maybe he means the elfness? Cloaked as he is, pointed ears are still obvious.]

Are you truly unaware of how it is that you resemble her?

[His smile widens, almost into a childish expression. It was always sort of funny when people tried to deny the things he could see - though it was entirely possible that the man was oblivious to it.]

Or is it that you do not wish to speak of it?

[His expression doesn't even flinch. So he really isn't dealing with an idiot...

What is this creature? He feels... so...]

The Queen of Life knows my true nature and name, but for now I am Krasus.

The queen of life, is it? ...What an interesting name for her; I have yet to hear anyone else refer to her as such, but that may simply be because I have not spoken with anyone that I know of who is aware of her.

If you are Krasus, then you may call me Pharos.

We are... acquainted. [More than acquainted, if his tone is to be read correctly.]

Pharos, then. You seem to find comfort in the presence of this tree. [As does Krasus. He's brought a book, too, though the title is written in a strange language.]

...I will take your word for that. [He can... almost tell, but not to what extent.]

It is a comforting place, do you not think? [He lifts a hand, holding it out in front of his, and tilts it, gaze settled on it; as if he can see the energy in the area drifting between his fingers.

Which, granted, he can't. Not anymore. But he can sort of feel it.] It seems peculiar of me to say... but it feels very nice here.

[It's for me to know and you to find out~]

This tree is more than a demonstration of her power. It is a piece of herself she gave freely to comfort the residents... [There is a certain fondness with which he speaks of 'her'...] Her very presence inspires life to flourish, and her touch banishes pain.

[He watches Pharos for a long moment...]

You sense it.

[Until Alex spills the beans, at least!]

Of course I sense it. I believe most beings here, regardless of what they are, are able to sense it when they are in this place.

But of course, I would be able to sense it even if most beings could not; though the Castle has diminished that ability considerably.

[KEEP HOPING... or just interrogate one of Jade Chan's friends, goddammit.]

That is unfortunate, but one does not always need to see things to know they exist.

No, of course not! That would make the world painfully dull if it were true, do you not think? If everything that you could see was all that there was... what would there be left to discover?

[That's one of the things he likes about not having full access to his sight. The possibilities.]

There would be as much as you desired. People often miss what is right before them, and those with incredible amounts of knowledge and sight may still find some mystery in the world they inhabit.

[He's speaking from experience. He is old and tired, yes-- but he still feels young and learning when in the presence of certain mortals. Even in this place, he's begun to learn that his way is not the only way. Not the right way...]

The true nature of all things is not so simple that one can grasp it indefinitely and become bored by it.

[Deathwing's view of the world's true nature is wrong. No-- he has to think of demigods like Cenarius, who understand the nature of life and the birth and death of planets, and exist so serenely even while defending the world.]

There is never a single thing about the "true nature" of any world that is boring - no matter what I have seen or found, that has been a fact of it all.

But it makes the circumstances or the state of those worlds no less upsetting at times.

[And Pharos speaks of his own experience, there; the world that he has looked after the most. It was such a tiny thing, and yet no one seemed to want to live...

He hated all of them.]

Are you certain that is truly seeing all that there was, though? ...I cannot imagine most beings would enjoy a lifestyle like that.
