She hasn't had an easy time of it lately and it shows, to those who know how to look for it--she's holding herself a little too stiffly, and her usual vibrancy has dimmed ever-so-slightly. [Violet wasn't one for books, no that was her brother, but she'd taken to the library to do... something. She's far more afraid of the castle than she'd like to admit, and since she didn't have her ribbon, she didn't want to invent. So she could at least read up on some of the mechanical things there were in other worlds.

Carrying a stack of books on cold fusion, Violet knocks into Amy's table.] Oh, sorry there. [She bends to pick up some of the books on the floor and then stands again.] Didn't realize I had so many books.

That doesn't sound pleasant. [She can relate to the sheer terror part.] I don't mind it so far though. Granted I haven't done much and I'm told I missed an infestation of vampires.

Just give it a little time. [she sobers a little] Something's bound to happen eventually.

I'm used to things happening. Maybe not on this level, but life has a way of changing like that.

Life can change a lot here. Just to warn you.

I've heard the castle has a way of doing whatever it wants from you.

Whoever told you that was right. Really, really right.

[Violet frowns. Something is the matter. It could be rude to not ask, it could be rude to ask.] Is everything alright? I know you just met me, but you remind me of a... of a friend. The last time I saw her, she was very much like you are now. Of course it was because of her condition. Distraught, she said, and pregnant.

[Amy very abruptly looks like the proverbial deer caught in headlights]

What? I'm not pregnant.

[wittybaudelaire]

I meant distraught. [Although Violet's looking at her disbelieving, because yeaaaah, people don't normally look like that when someone says that.]

[fffffuuuuuuuuuuu-]

I've just--had some hard times here.

[wittybaudelaire]

[She nods.] But you're all right now, yes?

[too_fairytale]

As well as I can be.

[she glances down at her books]

The castle can be a really big pain, but--don't let it stop you from making friends here. You might need them someday.

[wittybaudelaire]

I don't make friends easily. They seem to be killed because of their connection to me or turn out to be completely different than what I thought.

[yikes. seriously, yikes]

It's still worth trying.

Perhaps. It could be awfully lonely without close confidants.
